1. PURPOSE
This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) defines the permitted and prohibited use of the BusTrail Solutions platform to ensure:
Student safety
Data protection
System security
Lawful and responsible usage
This policy applies to all users of BusTrail Solutions.
2. SCOPE
This AUP applies to:
School administrators and staff
Parents and guardians
Drivers and transport personnel
Any authorized user of:
bustrail.co.ke
school.bustrail.co.ke
BusTrail mobile applications
3. USER ROLES
Users are categorized as:
School Administrators
Parents / Guardians
Drivers
Jaylan Solutions System Administrators
Each user shall only access features explicitly permitted for their role.
4. ACCEPTABLE USE
Users agree to:
Use the platform solely for legitimate school transport and safety purposes.
Provide accurate, truthful, and up-to-date information.
Maintain confidentiality of login credentials.
Respect student privacy and data protection obligations.
Use location tracking only in relation to active school transport trips.
Comply with all applicable laws, school policies, and platform rules.
5. PROHIBITED USE
Users MUST NOT:
Access or attempt to access data not assigned to them.
Share login credentials or allow unauthorized access.
Misuse location tracking for surveillance, profiling, or harassment.
Upload false, misleading, or offensive content.
Attempt to:
Hack
Reverse engineer
Circumvent security controls
Use the platform for advertising, political activity, or non-school purposes.
Interfere with system performance or availability.
Use the platform in any way that endangers a child.
6. CHILD SAFETY & DATA PROTECTION
Child data is classified as high-risk personal data.
Any misuse of child data is treated as a serious violation.
Users must not:
Screenshot, record, or share child location data
Download data unless explicitly authorized
All use must comply with the Data Protection Act, 2019 and related regulations.
7. DRIVER-SPECIFIC RULES
Drivers shall:
Use the app only while on duty.
Accurately check students in and out using approved methods.
Not use the app while driving except where safely mounted or permitted.
Immediately report lost devices or suspected account compromise.
Not manipulate routes, trips, or attendance records.
8. SYSTEM SECURITY & MONITORING
Jaylan Solutions Limited reserves the right to:
Monitor usage
Audit access logs
Investigate suspicious activity
Security monitoring includes:
Log analysis
SIEM alerts
Vulnerability assessments
Monitoring is conducted strictly for security, compliance, and system integrity.
9. ENFORCEMENT & SUSPENSION
Violations of this AUP may result in:
Warning
Temporary suspension
Permanent account termination
Severe violations (especially involving child data) may be reported to:
School authorities
Regulators
Law enforcement (where required)
10. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
Jaylan Solutions Limited shall not be liable for:
User misuse of the platform
Violations committed by schools, parents, or drivers
Consequences arising from inaccurate data provided by users
11. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
This AUP may be updated from time to time.
Continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of updates.
12. GOVERNING LAW
This Policy shall be governed by the laws of the Republic of Kenya.
13. ACCEPTANCE
By accessing or using BusTrail Solutions, users acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agreed to comply with this Acceptable Use Policy.
